This was an installation done by a Porsche customer on his 2007 Porsche Cayman S.  The short shifter kit fits on all Porsche 996, 997, 986, and 987 cars.  The pictures show the process on his Cayman.  Similar process for 997.  996 slight differs for removal of the center console.  Shifter assembly is the same.  You can view the product here – http://www.agency-power.com/catalog/agency-power-billet-short-shifter-porsche-boxster-996-997-p-33948.html
